Moon Quest Terms & Conditions

These terms set out the agreement between you and Moon Quest when you use the Moon Quest app, website, resource hub or newsletter. They are written in plain English on purpose. Please read them, and contact us if anything is unclear.

Effective date: 23 October 2026. Last updated: 23 October 2026.

1. Who we are

Moon Quest is the trade name of a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) established in the Netherlands and run by Helene Choo.

  • Registered address: De Duinsloot 46, 2211 DS Noordwijkerhout, the Netherlands

  • Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number: 77406443

  • VAT identification number: NL003190546B69

  • Email: contact@moonquest.app

  • Website: moonquest.app

In these terms, "Moon Quest", "we", "us" and "our" mean this business. "You" means the person using our services.

The fastest way to reach us is by email. We aim to reply within five working days.

2. What these terms cover

These terms apply to:

  • the Moon Quest mobile app for iOS and Android (the "app"), including its free features and the paid Premium plan

  • the website at moonquest.app and the Moon Quest resource hub it links to

  • The Monthly Cycle newsletter

Together we call these the "services".

Some things sit under their own terms:

  • Purchases of the printed Moon Quest journal and other physical products through moonquest.shop are governed by the terms of sale shown at checkout on that store.

  • Workshops, talks and other services we provide to organisations are governed by the written agreement for that work.

  • Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data. It is a separate document, and nothing in these terms reduces the rights it describes.

By installing or using the app, creating an account, subscribing to Premium or using the website or newsletter, you accept these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the services. We recommend saving a copy of these terms for your records.

3. Who can use Moon Quest

You need to be at least 16 years old to use the services. If you are under 18, you confirm that a parent or guardian has agreed to you using the app and, where relevant, to any purchase you make.

You also confirm that you are legally able to enter into this agreement and that the information you give us is accurate and kept up to date.

The services are designed for people who experience premenstrual symptoms, PMDD or premenstrual exacerbation (PME). You do not need a diagnosis to use them.

4. What Moon Quest is and is not

Moon Quest is a cycle-aware companion. It gives you a place to record how you feel, shows you patterns in what you have logged, and offers educational content about the menstrual cycle and conditions such as PMDD and PME. How you use that information is up to you.

Moon Quest is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Nothing in the app, on the website, in the resource hub or in the newsletter is a substitute for the judgement of a qualified clinician who knows your situation. Features such as the Emotional Forecast and any pattern or trend summaries are built only from the entries you make. They are estimates, they can be wrong, and they are not a clinical assessment. Please talk to a doctor or other qualified professional before making any decision about your health, medication or treatment.

Moon Quest is not a crisis or emergency service. The app does not monitor what you write and does not alert anyone on your behalf. If you are having thoughts of suicide or self-harm, or you are in immediate danger, contact a crisis line or the emergency services where you are. The app and the resource hub list crisis contacts for the UK, the Netherlands and the US.

You are responsible for how you use the information the services provide, including anything you choose to share with a clinician, employer or anyone else.

5. Your account

You can use the app without an account. Your entries then stay on your device only.

If you sign in with Apple or Google, we create a Moon Quest account so that your data can be backed up and synced across your devices and so we can recognise your Premium subscription. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in method secure and for all activity under your account. Tell us at hello@moonquest.app straight away if you think someone else has access to it.

One account is for one person. Please do not share it or transfer it to anyone else.

You can delete your account at any time from the app's settings or by emailing us. Deleting your account deletes your synced data as described in our Privacy Policy. Deleting the app from your device removes the data stored locally on that device. Deleting your account does not cancel a Premium subscription; you need to do that through the App Store or Google Play (see section 6).

6. Free and Premium

Free. The core of the app is free: daily check-ins, the Emotional Forecast, the first set of Explorer insights, basic avatar options and the beginner Learn articles. We may change what is included in the free tier over time, as described in section 11.

Premium. Premium is an optional paid subscription that unlocks the full app, including Moon Mapper, Night Navigator, the full Learn library, the Getting a PMDD diagnosis course, additional avatar items, and any other features we label as Premium. We may add features to Premium or, with notice, move features between tiers.

How you pay. Premium is sold only through the Apple App Store and Google Play. The price, currency, billing period (monthly or annual) and any introductory offer are shown in the store before you confirm. The store takes your payment, holds your payment details and issues your receipt. We never see your card details.

Renewal. A Premium subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period, at the price shown in the store at the time, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The store charges your payment method when it renews.

Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in your Apple ID or Google Play subscription settings. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Premium until the end of the period you have already paid for. Deleting the app or your account does not cancel the subscription.

Introductory offers. We do not currently offer a free trial. If we run an introductory price or a promotional code, the store shows what it costs, how long it lasts and what it converts to. An offer is for new subscribers only unless we say otherwise.

Price changes. We may change Premium prices. For an existing subscription, the store will tell you before a price increase takes effect and, where the store or the law requires it, ask for your agreement. If you do not agree, you can cancel before the new price applies.

Beta and lifetime access. If we granted you lifetime or beta access to any feature, that access continues on the terms we gave it to you, for the life of that feature in the app. It does not include features we introduce later unless we say so.

7. Your right to cancel and refunds

Right of withdrawal. If you are a consumer in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you normally have 14 days from the day you buy digital content or a digital service to change your mind and withdraw without giving a reason. Because Premium starts as soon as you confirm your purchase, the store will ask you to agree to immediate access and to acknowledge that, once the content is delivered, the 14-day right of withdrawal no longer applies to that purchase. This is the standard approach required by EU and UK consumer law for digital content, and the store manages it. Your statutory rights where something is faulty or not as described are not affected.

Refunds. Because Apple and Google take the payment, refund requests go through them. For iOS, use reportaproblem.apple.com. For Android, use the Google Play refund process. We cannot issue refunds for purchases made through the stores ourselves. Apple and Google apply their own refund policies, and we have no influence over their decisions.

If something is wrong. If Premium does not work as described, tell us at hello@moonquest.app and we will try to put it right. EU and UK law gives you specific rights where digital content does not conform to the contract, including the right to have the problem repaired, to a price reduction or to end the contract. Nothing in these terms limits those rights.

No partial refunds. We do not refund unused time after you cancel. You keep access until the end of the paid period.

8. Your content and your data

What you log is yours. Your check-ins, cycle entries, notes and any other content you record in the app belong to you. We do not claim ownership of them. We process them only to provide the services to you, as set out in our Privacy Policy, and we do not sell them or use them to train external AI systems.

Health data. Cycle and mood information is special category data under the GDPR. We process it on the basis of your explicit consent, which you give during onboarding and can withdraw at any time by deleting your account or your data. The details are in our Privacy Policy.

Sharing your data. If you use a feature that exports or shares your data, such as a summary for a clinician or a share card, you decide who receives it. Once you have shared it, we have no control over what the recipient does with it.

Feedback. If you send us ideas, suggestions or feedback about the services, you agree that we can use them to improve Moon Quest without owing you anything for them. We will not publish feedback that identifies you without asking you first.

Newsletter replies and comments. If you reply to the newsletter or comment on an issue, we use what you send only to respond to you. Please do not include health details in replies or comments.

9. Our content and your licence

Everything that makes up the services, including the app's software and design, the Learn articles, courses, journal prompts, insights, illustrations, the Moon Quest name and logo, and the newsletter, belongs to Moon Quest or to the people who license it to us. It is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws.

We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install the app on devices you own or control and to use the services for your own personal, non-commercial purposes, for as long as these terms are in force. We can withdraw this licence if you break these terms.

You may save or print content from the services for your own use. You may not copy, republish, sell, redistribute, translate or create derivative works from our content, or use it to build or train another product or service, without our written permission. If you would like to use our content in another way, for example in a support group, a classroom or a clinic, email partnerships@moonquest.app.

The tagline "You're not broken. You're cyclical." and the phrase "Amplified is not invented." are Moon Quest's.

10. Acceptable use

When using the services, you agree not to:

  • break any law, or use the services in a way that harms or harasses anyone

  • present Moon Quest, its content or any output from the app as medical advice, a diagnosis or a clinical tool, or use it to make medical claims to others

  • try to access another person's account or data

  • reverse engineer, decompile, modify or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where the law allows it

  • scrape, crawl or systematically download content from the services, or use bots, scripts or automated tools to access them

  • interfere with the security or operation of the services, or upload anything that contains malware

  • resell, rent, share or sublicense your access, or use the services for any commercial purpose

  • remove or obscure any copyright, trademark or other proprietary notice

  • use the services if you are under the minimum age in section 3

If you break these rules we may suspend or end your access, as described in section 15.

11. Changes to Moon Quest and to these terms

Changes to the services. Moon Quest is a small, evolving product. We may add, change or remove features, content and plans. We will only make a change that affects what you have paid for if there is a valid reason, such as a legal requirement, a security need, a change by a platform we depend on, or an improvement to the product. We will not charge you extra for such a change. If a change to Premium materially reduces what you get and you have an active subscription, we will tell you at least 30 days in advance, by email or in the app, and you can cancel and ask us for a proportionate refund of the unused part of your subscription for that change.

Changes to these terms. We may update these terms. If the change is minor, for example a correction or a clarification, it takes effect when we publish it. If the change is material, we will tell you at least 30 days before it takes effect, by email or in the app. If you do not agree with a material change, you can end this agreement before it takes effect by deleting your account and cancelling any subscription. Continuing to use the services after the change takes effect means you accept the new terms. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and we keep previous versions on request.

12. Availability, updates and support

We work hard to keep the services available, but we cannot promise that they will be available at all times or free of errors. The app may be unavailable during maintenance, updates or because of problems with networks, devices or providers we rely on.

We will provide the updates, including security updates, that are needed to keep the app working as described for a reasonable time after you buy a subscription, and for as long as the law requires. Some updates need you to install them. If you do not install an update we have made available, we are not responsible for problems that the update would have avoided.

The app is local first. Your entries are stored on your device, and only synced to our servers if you sign in. Please keep your device backed up. We are not responsible for data lost from a device that was never synced.

Support is by email at contact@moonquest.app. We are a small team and reply as quickly as we can, usually within five working days.

13. Third-party services and links

The services depend on providers we do not control, including the Apple App Store, Google Play, our subscription provider, our hosting and analytics providers, and the platform that sends our newsletter. Their terms apply to your use of their parts of the service, for example Apple's and Google's terms for payments and subscriptions, and the newsletter platform's terms for subscribing to and reading The Monthly Cycle. Our Privacy Policy lists these providers.

The services may link to websites, organisations, helplines and resources run by others. We include them because we think they are useful, not because we have checked everything about them. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability or how they handle your data.

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any issue.

14. App store terms

This section applies when you use the app downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play (each an "app distributor"). Apple and Google require it.

Acknowledgement. This agreement is between you and Moon Quest only, not with Apple or Google. Moon Quest, not the app distributor, is solely responsible for the app and its content.

Scope of licence. Your licence to use the app is limited to a non-transferable licence to use it on a device running iOS or Android, as applicable, in line with the usage rules in the app distributor's terms of service. The app may be used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or similar arrangements where the app distributor allows it.

Maintenance and support. Moon Quest is solely responsible for providing maintenance and support for the app, as described in these terms or as required by law. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for the app.

Warranty. Moon Quest is solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not effectively disclaimed. If the app fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app to you. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app. Any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are Moon Quest's responsibility.

Product claims. Moon Quest, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession and use of it, including product liability claims, claims that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation, including, where applicable, in connection with the app's use of the HealthKit or HomeKit frameworks.

Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the app, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, Moon Quest, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.

Legal compliance. You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated by the US Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms when using the app, for example your mobile data provider's terms.

Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. When you accept these terms, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

15. Ending the agreement

By you. You can stop using the services at any time. To end this agreement fully, delete your account (or delete the app if you never created one), cancel any Premium subscription through the app store, and unsubscribe from the newsletter.

By us. We may suspend or end your access to the services if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we have reasonable grounds to believe your use creates a security or legal risk. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put things right. If we end your access for a breach, you are not entitled to a refund of any subscription fees already paid, unless the law says otherwise.

If we close Moon Quest. If we decide to stop offering the app or Premium altogether, we will give you at least 60 days' notice by email or in the app, give you a way to export your data before the service closes, and refund the unused part of any paid subscription.

After the end. Sections that by their nature continue, including sections 8, 9, 16, 17 and 18, keep applying after this agreement ends.

16. Our responsibility to you

What we do not exclude. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for intent or gross negligence (opzet of bewuste roekeloosheid) on our part, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to limit or exclude. Nothing in these terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights where digital content is not as it should be.

What we are responsible for. We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill.

What we are not responsible for. We are not responsible for:

  • decisions you make about your health, medication, treatment, work or relationships based on information from the services. The services provide context, not advice, and cannot replace a clinician who knows you.

  • loss that was not foreseeable to either of us when you accepted these terms

  • loss caused by something outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of your device, your network, an app distributor or another provider we rely on

  • loss caused by your breaking these terms, or by your not installing an update we made available

  • data stored only on your device that was lost because the device was lost, damaged, reset or not backed up

  • any business loss. The services are for personal use.

Limit. Where the law allows it, our total liability to you for all claims arising out of or connected with the services in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for Premium in that period, or EUR 100 if you paid nothing. This limit does not apply to the liability we cannot exclude under the first paragraph of this section.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer living in another country in the European Union or the United Kingdom, you also keep the protection of any mandatory consumer law of the country where you live, and nothing in this section takes that away.

If you have a complaint, email contact@moonquest.app first. We will acknowledge it within five working days and try to resolve it with you within 30 days. Most problems are sorted out this way.

If we cannot resolve a dispute together, you can bring a claim in the courts of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer living in the EU, you can also bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live, and we will only bring a claim against you in those courts. If you are a consumer in the UK, you can bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales, Scotland or Northern Ireland, depending on where you live.

18. General terms

Language. These terms are written in English. If we provide a translation, the English version applies if there is a conflict, unless the law where you live says otherwise.

The whole agreement. These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and anything we show you in the app or the app store at the point of purchase, form the whole agreement between you and us for the services.

If part of these terms is invalid. If a court finds any part of these terms unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.

Transfer. We may transfer our rights and obligations under these terms to another person or business, for example if Moon Quest changes legal form or is sold. We will tell you if this happens, and it will not reduce your rights. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else.

Delay. If we do not enforce a part of these terms straight away, we can still enforce it later.

No third-party rights. Apart from Apple as set out in section 14, no one other than you and us has any rights under these terms.

Contact. Questions about these terms: contact@moonquest.app. Questions about your data: privacy@moonquest.app.
